"The cool scarf is a great way to beat the heat," said
Patti Bader, a Soldiers Mother & founder and executive director of Soldier's Angels.
"Cool scarves" are made from 100 percent cotton.
The magic in these scarves comes from the non-toxic synthetic crystals which transform into a soft
cooling gel. This cool gel enables the scarves to stay cool two to three days without refrigeration.
After being hand washed by the soldiers in-country, the scarves are easy to reactivate again by
soaking them in cool water for 15 minutes.
"The sand scarves sent by Soldier's Angels are extremely important to us in many
ways," said SGT. Michael A. Kelly, from Illinois, who has been serving his tour in Iraq since
May 2006. "First, they help us keep our heads warm, the sand out of eyes and mouths, and they can
even be used to clean our ballistic eye ware. Most importantly, they show the soldiers that the U. S.
public still supports us. That means everything to us over here. We want to thank the American
people for their continued, unwavering support which never goes unnoticed or unappreciated by
those of us serving our country overseas."
People interested in providing members of the military with "Cool Scarves" can visit their web site
www.soldiersangels.org to make a donation by credit card or by using PayPal. A Scarf can also be
purchased online at the Soldiers Angels Store and have it sent directly to a soldier. Make sure that
you put in the comments section "OPERATION COOL HERO." Checks can be made out to Solder's
Angels at 1792 E. Washington Blvd, Pasadena, Ca. 91104.
Founded in 2003 by the mother of a U.S. soldier, Soldiers Angels is a non-profit Internet community
dedicated to ensuring that members of the military know they are loved and supported. To date,
more than 105,000 individuals have adopted soldiers worldwide. These "angels" provide aid and
comfort to the military and to their families. Soldier's Angels are asked to write their adopted soldier
once a week, and to send small care packages to him or her twice a month. Soldiers Angels
currently works with over 50,000 military units. Nearly 6,000 blankets have been given to injured
service men and women in U. S. hospitals. During the Christmas holidays in 2006, more than
90,000 gift bags were sent to U. S. soldiers. All donations to Soldiers Angels are tax deductible.
The organization can be reached at www.soldiersangels.org or by telephone at 1-615-676-0239.

Soldiers' Angels Announces An Urgent Need for Citizens to Send U.S. Soldiers Scarves to Keep Body Temperatures Down and Desert Sand Out.
Scarves that provide an evaporative cooling system that lowers body temperature by several degrees, reducing the risk of heat stroke.
A donation of $10 enables the group to manufacture enough "Cool Scarves" to help 5 to 6 soldiers stay more comfortable in the punishing desert environments in Iraq and Afghanistan

Through Operation Cool Hero, Soldiers Angels will be providing
every soldier that has signed up with a cooling scarf.
The cooling scarf is a great way to beat the heat. The "magic" in these cooling scarves
comes from hundreds of tiny hidden non-toxic polymer crystals that hold many times their
weight in water. By soaking a cooling scarf in cool water for 15 minutes, these crystals
become "energized" and become a comfortable, portable evaporative cooler that can lower
body temperature by several degrees.
Why is this important?
Aside from the general morale and comfort of our soldiers, is that the extreme
heat can cause a major safety issue for our soldiers when it is just so hot that
they cannot think or react to what is going on around them.
If you would like to help us send these cool scarves to our brave heroes to help them feel a
little more comfortable and let them know that WE CARE about them, please do so in one of
the following ways:
Please click here to go directly to their page to donate your
$10 bucks through paypal.
By the way, we have checked out this organization and they do an enormous amount of
good. Their financials are also listed on their home page. Just keep scrolling down to the
bottom of their home page if you wish to view them.
Together we can do a lot of good. We can't fix all the ills of the world, but we sure can
make a dent. Also we find it very humbling that such a small donation could save
someone's life.
Thank you and best wishes from your friends at Housewife Mafia.
Soldiers Angels is a nationwide all volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to the vital mission
of service and support to the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces. It's
members work tirelessly to insure that those soldiers who are risking so much for our freedoms
know that we support them and appreciate all that they do for us. Operation Cool Hero is the latest
project designed to provide an additional layer of support and comfort to those brave soldiers,
marines, sailors and airmen.

OPERATION COOL HERO
Over in Iraq and Afghanistan the brave young men
and women of our United States Armed Forces are
working hard in arguably the most dangerous
conditions our military has faced in several decades.
The latest threat to their safety: high
temperatures. Serving in a vast desert with a
blaring sun, the temperature can reach 140 degrees
and higher on any given day, with very little relief
when the sun goes down. With temperatures
ranging from 110 at night to 150 and higher during
the day, cool scarves can help provide our heroes
with some cool comfort.
